Mision Boricua presented via live video, Nelson A. Denis, author of the “War Against All Puerto Ricans,” who defined the Jones Act and provided insight on the history and challenges of repealing this legislation. The second part of the event featured Julio Pabon via live video, a New York Community Activist, who initiated a working session for the audience about how to inspire community activism within the Puerto Rican Diaspora of Central Florida and contribute to Misión Boricua’s Campaign for the Exemption of Puerto Rico from the Jones Act of 1920.
Misión Boricua encouraged the participation of the audience and several local candidates. Mision Boricua is summarizing recommendations for an Action Plan on the Campaign for the Exemption of Puerto Rico from the coastwise laws of the United States, commonly known as the Jones Act.
